How much does a shark diving trip cost?

Great White Shark Tours Pty Ltd is a legal entity that operates a business of viewing great white sharks from our boat and/or in a cage attached to our boat under authority issued by the Department of Marine and Coastal Management.

This BEE business employs only the best-trained staff and experienced certificated crew.

The vessel used in this operation is “Apex Predator “, (13 meters in length and 5.1 meters in width) a Lee Cat built in 2007 and fitted with four 200HP four-stroke Suzuki engines. 

The vessel is inspected and surveyed by Government officials on a regular basis and all prescribed safety equipment is checked by them and carried onboard.

Launching takes place at Kleinbaai Harbour which is situated approximately 160 km from Cape Town  A map plus directions is attached.

Please note that all tour times can only be confirmed a day prior to the tour, after a detailed weather and tide check. Tours are undertaken daily and normally comprise the following:

 08:00

• Arrival at our crew house in Kleinbaai
• Meet with our friendly staff.
• Complete Documentation and payment requirements
• Briefing by skipper on the day’s events
• The skipper is responsible for the safety of passengers and crew and his instructions must at all times be obeyed.
• Protective clothing is available in the event of rain/cold

09:00

• launch and a 20-minute trip to the shark diving area
• Launch times will depend on sea-/weather- and tide conditions.
• The boat will proceed to the area best deemed appropriate for shark viewing on any particular trip, taking sea -conditions into account.
• Sharks are viewed from the observation deck, and /or diving takes place in a cage lowered into the sea, but attached to the boat at all times.
• All diving gear and towels are provided

No snorkeling-/scuba experience is required, and no such equipment is used during these dives.

11:00 – 12:00 - Return to harbour and crew house for a hot shower

We suggest that prior to undertaking a tour; the person takes the recommended sea sickness tablet which NORMALLY will prevent any form of motion illness. 

Indemnity -

Every tourist shall complete an indemnity form, giving his/her full particulars including those of his/her next of kin, prior to boarding “Apex Predator”.

Children -

All ages are welcome on our tours, we do not have an age restriction. Please inform our reservations team of children's ages prior to the tour.

Transport -

Transport from Central Cape Town and Hermanus to Kleinbaai can be arranged in an air-conditioned coach at an additional cost of R750 pp 

Bookings -

Bookings can be made via e-mail, WhatsApp, or phone.

All bookings will be confirmed within 48 hours of receipt of credit card particulars by e-mail.

Great White Shark Tours Pty Ltd reserves the right to place tourists on another fully accredited and authorized boat if circumstances dictate.

Prices

• The standard price per shark cage tour is R 2,300 per person and R1,500 per person for children under 12 years old.
• The return price for transport is R750pp from Cape Town
  [Transport costs are not subject to VAT].
• Prices of shark diving tours are inclusive of 15% VAT.
• A VAT invoice will be supplied on request.

Payment

• Payment must be made prior to undertaking the tour.
• Charges are raised separately for transport and shark cage diving.
• Payment will be accepted in cash [ZAR], OR valid Credit Card [Visa or MASTER only], OR on account if a voucher from an approved agent or account holder is provided.

Cancellation Policy

• Great White Shark Tours Pty Ltd reserves the right to charge a 100% cancellation fee in the following event: If confirmed by the client and cancelled after 18:00 on the previous day, OR a no-show.
• Where an Exclusive trip has been booked, a deposit of 50% is payable 10 days prior to undertaking the trip, which will be forfeited in the event of a cancellation 5 days prior to the trip.
• All Bookings made must be accompanied by a valid credit card number, which will be debited in the event of a no-show or late cancellation.
• Where an Exclusive trip is cancelled less than 5 days prior to the booked date, the full quoted amount will be payable in full.
• Where any trip is cancelled due to weather or sea conditions, a full refund will be made by Great White Shark Tours Pty Ltd, or an alternative trip will be arranged.

A comprehensive public liability policy is held by Great White Shark Tours Pty Ltd.

Accounts

• Accounts will only be opened for VAT-registered agents who make regular use of our service, insufficient volumes, and accept the terms and conditions contained herein.
• Accounts will be raised on the date or tour and must be paid in full within 14 days.

REFUND POLICY:

• A full refund will be considered on merit, by management, in the event of illness, hospitalization, accident or death, upon receipt of proof thereof.
• A full refund will be granted should the activity be cancelled in the interest of safety, prior to the trip.
• In the event of no shark activity while on a shark cage diving tour, there will be no vouchers or refunds.
• SHARKS ARE PREDATORS AND WILD ANIMALS!
  Therefore it is impossible to guarantee their sighting on any given trip.
